Saved documents of his discharge from the military includes:
- Thanks from a Grateful Nation
- Official Discharge Document that lists Battles/Campaigns, Awards (Combat Infantryman Badge & Sharpshooter Rifle), Decorations & Citations
- Ticket he saved for bus ride from Fort Devens to South Boston
- Bronze Star (awarded post-war)
- 4th Armored Division Association Membership
He had grown up and his family was living in Lowell, MA at the time he entered the military. At some point, they had sold the house and put furniture into storage (see March 03, 1945 letter) and ended up in an apartment at 1788 Columbia Rd in South Boston, across from the now Boston Harbor Yacht Club. That's where he lived for years post-war while tending UMass Amherst and taking classes at Boston University where he met mom.
